Urban Safari Rescue Society was conceived from Cinemazoo
Animal Agency, which has been operating since 1988. In 2007 Gary Oliver
realized it was more important to educate people and conserve animals in this
changing world. So he began Urban Safari.
Urban Safari Rescue
Society is dedicated
to the rescue, care and maintenance of exotic and other animals, and to
provide education through lectures, in-house courses and outreach programs for
adults and children, using exotic animals rescued from the pet trade industry,
illegal breeders, smugglers, and with those animals who have been abandoned or
neglected.
2010 continues to be a tough year for Urban Safari Rescue Society.
We are always taking in unwanted animals,
and because of this our costs for feeding and care
are on the rise.
With the current
economy and other
occurrences we are struggling to keep giving the kind of care these animals
need.
We would like to continue to educate people on these animals
and their proper place on this planet but donations are needed to give these
unwanted animals the food, care and shelter they deserve.
So we are sending out a heart felt plea for donations of any
kind whether it, be money or products, such as food, water bottles, cages,
office equipment or supplies, land Etc.
Every donation will be greatly appreciated and will receive a
tax receipt for your generosity.
Please find it in your heart to donate now and make a
difference, so we can continue to provide for these unwanted animals, and
education for our children and their future.
Our goal is to develop a facility dedicated to education for
future generation and preservation of wildlife worldwide.

Urban Safari Rescue Society
is dedicated to the rescue, care and maintenance
of exotic and other animals, and to provide education through lectures, in-house
courses and outreach programs for adults and children, using exotic animals
rescued from the pet trade industry, illegal breeders, smugglers and with those
animals who have been abandoned or neglected. Our expert, Gary J. Oliver, has been involved
in this field for 20 years now in the Lower Mainland, and we are privileged to
have him on our Board.
Some of the animals we rescue may be near the bottom of the life chain but,
without them, all other forms of life as we know it would slowly disappear.
Saving these animals provides us with a unique opportunity to use them as living
ambassadors in our educational programs. Teaching people about
preservation and conservation is a priority especially with the realization of
today's world of global warming, vanishing habitats and species.
Our Mission
To rescue, care for and maintain the health of rescued exotic and
other animals.
To educate children and adults on the various species and their
importance to our environment, the need for conservation, and the
responsibilities of exotic animal ownership.
To provide public awareness of conservation efforts in place to
protect and conserve the various species in our care and to appeal to the public
to take an active role in our efforts.
Our long range plans are to build a much larger facility that is
easily accessible to all ages, situated on enough land to expand
the number of our ambassadors in a more natural habitat. It would also
allow zoology students and biologists the opportunity to study wildlife and
share their knowledge with others so we may better care for and understand the
animals' needs in captivity and in the wild.
Company Profile
On January 23, 2007, Urban Safar Rescue Society was established as a
non-profit Registered Charity in British Columbia.
We rescue, care for and maintain the health of exotic animals including birds,
insects, amphibians, reptiles and other small animals. When possible we find good informed homes for
them, rehabilitate them for release into the wild, or they become animal
ambassadors in our educational presentations done through schools,
corporation and community events.

Urban Safari Rescue Society's residents are a living library of exotic
creatures, who provide vast learning opportunities for visitors of all ages.
Our 'by appointment only' Tours provide access to a wider variety of animals up
close than most people would see in the untamed regions of our world on their
own travels.
Through our various programs the public learns why some animal species are
endangered or facing extinction, as well as what conservation efforts are being
put in place to protect and conserve them and their habitats. We are able
to appeal to the public to take a more active role in conservation of wildlife
and wild habitats, whether through seeking donations, or through the use of
revenue generated through tours, career school, and our gift shop, and by
supporting other wildlife organizations in our communities.
Our Board of Directors include Gary Oliver, owner and operator of Cinemazoo
Animal Agency
for over 20 years. Gary brings his expertise in the field of exotic
animals to our educational presentations and events throughout the Lower
Mainland; providing birds, insects, amphibians, reptiles and other small animals
at birthday parties, presentations at schools and organizations, as well as
petting zoos and information booths at various community events.
Gary knows that if we lose these animals and their habitats, through global
warming, industry and urban sprawl, we will also lose important ecological
foundations in the process. Gary shares our goal in providing education
and working to save these animals for future generations.
For more information on Cinemazoo Animal Agency please see their website at
www.cinemazoo.com.
Other Directors are Sandy Stranges, Yuki Chippendale, Donna
Creamore and Len Goosen
(general accountant). Urban Safari Rescue Society has ongoing need for
volunteers to run Tours, care for the animals, maintain the facilities,
administrative duties, webmaster, and public relations. If you are
interested in participating in our efforts, please call us at 604-531-1100 .
